Welcome to Spain
For many years Traveleyes has partnered with International Schools, inviting English-speaking students to join our trips. These holidays follow the same model as our standard Traveleyes trips, with the added bonus that each VI traveller gets two students as sighted guides, sharing their enthusiastic and descriptive view of the world around them as they travel together. Following the overwhelming success of these school trips, we are excited to bring back this model with a brand-new holiday to Andalucía! This trip is open to both vision impaired and sighted travellers who will be accompanied by International School students from the Victoria Shanghai Academy, Hong Kong. All travellers enjoy the same quality of itinerary, accommodation and experience, with the addition of most meals being included! Adult sighted travellers will have a lighter than usual guiding role, mainly in the evenings, since most of the guiding will be done by the students, and our vision impaired travellers also receive a considerable discount on this fantastic trip for helping to develop the confidence of our young adventurers.
Join us in Andalucía in Southern Spain – a land of dramatic landscapes, delightful cuisine, gorgeous towns and passionate culture. We’ll begin our adventure in Benalmadena near stunning beaches and seascapes in the highly sought-after Costa del Sol region before journeying inland to the historic capital of Andalucía, Seville. Along the way, we’ll uncover unique aspects of Andalucían culture from the wonder of the Alhambra Palace in Granada to the Flamenco dance of Seville and the unforgettable horse showmanship on offer in Jerez de la Frontera.

Saturday 31st May
Our group will all meet at London Gatwick airport for initial introductions before flying into Málaga, Spain. Upon arrival in Malaga, we’ll continue to our hotel in Benalmadena where we’ll settle in, before having dinner together.
Dinner included. Overnight in Benalmadena.
Sunday 1st June
Today we’ll head to the spellbindingly beautiful Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens in Granada. Declared a World Heritage Site in 1984, this palatial city on Sabika Hill was constructed out of local reddish clay, giving it a gorgeous hue against the backdrop of Sierra Nevada. Once the opulent seat of Granada’s Nasrid emirs, the palace was expanded with additional palaces following the Reconquista and includes gorgeous gardens and fountains which we’ll uncover and explore during our guided tour.
We’ll then enjoy a typical Spanish lunch together before having free time in the historic centre of Granada. Stroll the streets around the cathedral, explore the maze-like alleys of Albaicín, or grab a coffee and take in the atmosphere in one of the pretty plazas before transferring back to Benalmadena in time for dinner.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Overnight in Benalmadena.
Monday 2nd June
Today we’ll head to La Herradura Village where we’ll find a tropical fruit plantation. We’ll enter a typical country-house, overlooking the sea, where exotic and tropical fruits are grown in the special climate and soil. We’ll sample supreme quality custard apples, persimmons, mangoes, avocados and papayas and explore the farmland where these fruits are surprisingly able to grow in this European microclimate.
Following lunch, we’ll enjoy some free time in Nerja, a lovely little Spanish town with a sandy beach next to the Mediterranean. Whilst here, there is a cave that you may wish to explore during your free time if you’re brave!
Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Overnight in Benalmadena.
Tuesday 3rd June
We’ll enjoy today in Benalmadena where you might wish to have a swim in the hotel pool or, if the sea is more your thing, a visit to the nearby sandy Las Yucas or Viborillas beaches. You may wish to explore the old town of Benalmadena, set high above the more touristy town of Benalmadena Costa. This quaint village dates back to the 8th century and is home to cobbled streets and a beautiful central plaza, with a bubbling fountain and lined with orange trees. A great place to stop for a bite to eat or drink in a lovely open-air cafe.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Overnight in Benalmadena.
Wednesday 4th June
Today we’ll depart the wonderful coastal area of Málaga and journey inland to Seville which will be our base for the remainder of our Andalucian adventure.
On the way, we’ll visit the charming city of Córdoba, famous for the mesmerising multi-arched Mezquita – a masterpiece of Islamic construction dating from the days before the Reconquista. Expect stone-paved streets surrounded by medieval grandeur that are shaded by overhanging fruit trees. We’ll then enjoy lunch together before heading to Seville where we’ll check into our new hotel and have dinner together as a group.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Overnight in Seville.
Thursday 5th June
We’ll head to Jerez de la Frontera today to attend a horse performance at the Royal Andalucían School of Equestrian Art. Described as an equestrian ballet, the show is accompanied by quintessential Spanish music and 18th century styled costumes, all put together and choreographed using movements based on classical dressage, Doma Vaquera (country-style riding) and traditional equestrian chores such as cattle herding, trotting and galloping. The show takes place inside the historic school and promises to be a memorable highlight of your visit to Andalucia.
We’ll also visit Cádiz today, a city famous for being the oldest city of the Occident (an old-fashioned word for Europe). Cádiz is now into its fourth millennium and its sea walls show the signs of centuries of erosion by the sea that surrounded the city on all sides.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Overnight in Seville.
Friday 6th June
Today we’ll venture into the centre of Seville for a panoramic tour including the historic quarter and mighty cathedral. Seville is famous for its emotive local dance, gothic cathedrals and winding streets that lead to the Real Alcazar. Following lunch in a traditional restaurant, we’ll enjoy some free time in the centre before heading to a Flamenco show at the Museo del Baile Flamenco.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Overnight in Seville.
Saturday 7th June
Following our week of culture and nature in Andalucían Spain, we’ll transfer to the airport in Málaga for our journey home.
Breakfast included.
