Thursday 2nd April

Today we shall arrive into Barcelona and transfer to our hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to get acquainted with this exciting city. The area surrounding the hotel is bustling with local restaurants and cafes, the perfect spot to settle into and watch the world go by!

Overnight in Barcelona.

Friday 3rd April

A city filled with history, there is no better place to begin our discovery of Barcelona than the 2000-year-old Gothic Quarter. Our local guide will walk us through these medieval streets, taking us to some of the Quarters most memorable features. We’ll meander through the pretty Placa Reial, a square close to the famous bustling La Rambla. Our tour will also take us through the Jewish Quarter, around the Cathedral Cloister, and through many of the Quarter’s ornate squares.

Following our tour, there will be free time where you and your day partner can explore more of this part of the city! As you’re close by, why not wander down the busy La Rambla and experience one of the world’s most renowned streets. Just off La Rambla you’ll find La Boqueria, the city’s famous food market that is sure to delight the senses! Be warned though, you’ll be spoiled for choice!

Breakfast included. Overnight in Barcelona.

Saturday 4th April

No visit to Barcelona can be considered complete without visiting some of the works of Antoni Gaudi, a Spanish architect responsible for the famous architectural works that put Barcelona on the map! Today we’ll be visiting two of his most revered works – the Sagrada Familia and Park Guell. In 1883 Gaudi took over as chief architect on the cathedral, creating a unique style combining Gothic and Art Nouveau styles. The cathedral is still under construction and not due to be completed until 2026. We’ll then visit Park Guell, on the outskirts of the city. Filled with brightly coloured mosaic, buildings that are reminiscent of gingerbread houses, and breath-taking views across the city – the park is one of Barcelona’s jewels.

Breakfast included. Overnight in Barcelona.

Sunday 5th April

After breakfast today we will head back into the bustling centre of the city to visit Casa Batllo, another of Gaudi’s works. Arriving at the building, we will take a moment to absorb the design of the house from the outside, which was made to look like a skull and bones. Foreboding though it is not, as Gaudi used bright, coral colours to decorate the exterior, making the finish touch nothing short of something from a fairy-tale. We’ll then head inside for an audio tour which will take us through the building, where we can discover the incredible attention to detail Gaudi is renowned for.

The rest of the day is at leisure. You and your day partner may wish to venture to one of Barcelona’s 5 beaches and grab a drink overlooking the ocean. Alternatively, Casa Batllo is in the centre of the city, near to many of the shops, so now is the perfect time for a spot of retail therapy!

Breakfast included. Overnight in Barcelona.

Monday 6th April

Sadly, today is our last day in this magnificent city. After a leisurely start to the day, we’ll check-out and make our way to the airport for our flight home.
