Thursday 5th March

Today we arrive into Budapest and transfer to our accommodation. Check-in begins early afternoon, giving plenty of time to grab some lunch beforehand! With our centrally located hotel, this is the perfect base to head out and begin discovering this truly beautiful city.

Friday 6th March

This morning we meet with a local guide who will take us on a walking tour to some of Budapest’s most notable sites, including the famous Chain Bridge, St Stephen’s Basilica and the Parliament buildings, which is regarded as one of the cities most beautiful examples of architecture. Along the way we will discover the history of this ancient city and explore the winding streets. Our tour will end outside the Szechenyi Baths, and there will be ample free time for those who wish to enter. Those who don’t, there is plenty more exploring to be done, or head back to the hotel for a quick rest before we depart on our evening cruise down the Danube!

Saturday 7th March

No visit to Budapest can be considered complete without a visit to the Great Market! We’ll head to the market this morning to meet with or knowledgeable local guide, who will take us on a walk through the stalls. As we meander through this bustling market, we’ll hear the history of the building, discover the vendors and their produce and learn about Hungarian food history. The Great Market is one of Budapest’s most vibrant attractions, filled with exotic smells and a plethora of different sounds, you’ll definitely be enticed to sample some of the delicacies on offer!

This afternoon we’ll visit another of the city’s most notable landmarks, the Opera House! Here we’ll have a brief tour of the building, all the while uncovering the story of this historic building! Following the tour, we’ll have the opportunity to witness a mini concert and hear first hand the breath taking acoustics that have made this opera house so famous.

Sunday 8th March

Today is a day at leisure before our evening departure. Meaning you have free time to go out and explore the areas of the city you might not have seen yet! Whether you fancy trying out a spot of shopping in the centre, residing in a café all day, or heading to the Fisherman’s Bastion – there is no shortage of things to do!
