Saturday 9th May

Today we depart for Madrid and when we land, we’ll check into our hotel and relax for the evening.

Overnight in Madrid.

Sunday 10th May

Our first day in Madrid takes us on a walking tour of the city. We’ll visit incredible sights such as the Puerto del Sol, a public square in Madrid which is the ideal place to start learning about this city’s history. We’ll also visit another public square, the Plaza Mayor, where there are plenty of shops and places to eat before visiting the neighbourhood of La Latina, an area known for its beer, tapas and terraces. Other sights on this tour include the Museum of Origins, the Muslim Walls, the Royal Palace and the Temple of Debod, an Egyptian temple which was dismantled and rebuilt in Madrid.

Monday 11th May

Today we get to enjoy a day trip to Toledo, one of oldest cities in Spain, and the former Spanish capital. Only a short distance from Madrid, our tour will show you the city of three cultures as we take in to Royal Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes, the Synagogue of Santa Maris and the Church of Santo Tome. If you have a sweet tooth, you might want to sample Toledo’s traditional daily snack – mazipan. This is a delicately balanced marzipan made into shapes of cute animals and is very popular throughout the city.

Tuesday 12th May

We’re basing ourselves in Madrid again today with tours of Reina Sofia and the Royal Palace. Reina Sofia is an art museum and here we’ll get to surround ourselves with Spanish art included one of Pablo Picasso’s most famous pieces of work, Guernica, which was created during the Spanish Civil War.

Our second visit of the day is to the Royal Palace, the official residence of Madrid’s Royal family and the largest functioning Royal Place in Europe.

Wednesday 13th May

This morning, we can enjoy a leisurely breakfast before departing for the airport. We hope you’ve had a great time in Madrid and we look forward to having you on another Traveleyes adventure soon!
