Saturday 14th March

Today we depart for Mauritius and enjoy our overnight flight to this gorgeous island in the Indian Ocean.

Sunday 15th March

We’ll land in Mauritius just after lunch and once we’ve check into our hotel, the rest of the day is yours to spend how you wish. You might want to lounge by the pool to rest after the journey!

Monday 16th March

It’s an early start this morning, but it’s more than worth it as we’re going to board a catamaran in the hope of seeing wild dolphins. Our skipper will do a briefing on the type of dolphin that swim in these waters, what their habits are, and guidelines that are followed for sustainable dolphin watching as well as keeping you posted on any dolphins that are in the ocean. There’s also time to enjoy some snorkelling on this marine adventure so bring your bathing suits as we get up close to some of this earth’s most magnificent wildlife.

Tuesday 17th March

Today we’ll enjoy a full day tour of the north of Mauritius. This will include a visit to the capital of Port Louis, the bustling capital of the island, Caudan Waterfront which is a unique shopping mall, the Marie Reine de la Paix church, the Hindu Temple of Port Louis, the Pieter Both Mountain Range, and the magnificent Pamplemousses Botanical Garden. We’ll end the day a Cap Malheureux, a fishing village in the north of Mauritius before going back to the hotel for dinner.

Wednesday 18th March

Our tour today will take us to the south of the island where we’ll experience Trou aux Cerf which is a dormant volcano, a ship model factory, the crater lake of Grand Bassin, Black River Gorges for a panoramic view, and Chamerel Waterfall which is Mauritius’ highest waterfall at 90 meters. Next up on this nature focused tour of Mauritius is a place called Seven Coloured Earth – a geological curiosity where the earth is beautiful shades of red, brown, grey and purple in contrast with the green forest which surrounds it.

Thursday 19th March

On your free day today, you may wish to relax by the pool or check out the local area.

Friday 20th March

We’re off on another adventure today as we explore the south east of Mauritius. Starting at Eureka House and travelling to Blue Bay Beach, we’ll stop off at the Biscuiterie H Rault, a family owned biscuit factory that specialises in the production of cassava biscuits. We’ll get to find out how these biscuits are made and how their history has spanned over 140 years. Our tour will then take us to the Old Grand Port which is where the first human inhabitants landed on the island in September 1598. It was also the local headquarters of the Dutch East India company until 1710 and we’ll stay here long enough to discover the architecture of this important building.

Saturday 21st March

Sunday 22nd March

The tea route will take us through three stages of the Mauritian Tea Route. First is Le Domaine des Aubineaux, a colonial house which was built in 1872, where we’ll take a guided walk and enjoy a visit to La Maison des Essences and La Parc Floral des Aubineaux. Next, we’ll go to Le Bois Cheri, a tea plantation where we’ll discover the making of teas as well as getting to enjoy a tea tasting session. Our last stop on the Mauritian Tea Route is St Aubin House. This is where several managers of the sugar estate used to live and was renovated in the 90s to preserve this important part of Mauritian heritage. We’ll also get to try a sample of the house rum – a treat to take us through to our final bonus stop of the day: Gris Gris. Coral reefs and exceptional scenery make this a beautiful place to experience the power of nature.

Monday 23rd March

It’s our last full day in Mauritius so take it to enjoy anything we haven’t visited on our time on the island.

We have an evening flight so enjoy today at your leisure before we leave for the airport later afternoon.
