Monday 5th August

We’ll meet at Nether Grange, our characterful seafront accommodation for the duration of our stay. Nestled in the coastal village of Alnmouth, this former 18th century granary has excellent views over Northumberland’s National Landscape coastline, especially from its attractive terrace garden.

We can check in from 4pm onwards and will get to know each other over a delicious cream tea served in the conservatory. There’ll also be time for an introductory stroll around the house and the nearby sands of Alnmouth Beach. This gorgeous golden bay is perfect for watching the thousands of rare bird species that flock to the region’s stunning sands and offshore islands every year.

Cream tea and dinner included. Overnight in Alnmouth.

Tuesday 6th August

We’ll spend time in Alnwick, an attractive market town dominated by the second-largest inhabited castle in the country. Home to the Duke of Northumberland’s family for over 700 years, Alnwick Castle is also home to the Fusiliers Museum of Northumberland. The award-winning gardens were designed by famous English gardener and landscape architect, Capability Brown, and feature sculptures, water features, the largest collection of European plants in the UK, and the biggest Japanese Cherry Orchard in the World!

Breakfast, packed lunch, and dinner included. Overnight in Alnmouth.

Wednesday 7th August

We’ll follow in the footsteps of England’s early medieval pilgrims and will complete this barefoot for added authenticity. We’ll guide you along the ancient path known as the Pilgrim’s Way, crossing the sands of Lindisfarne Bay to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne.

At Lindisfarne Priory, we’ll discover the island’s extraordinary history as the seat of early Christianity in Anglo-Saxon Britain.

Breakfast, packed lunch, and dinner included. Overnight in Alnmouth.

Thursday 8th August

Our final day begins with a boat trip to the Farne Islands. Located just offshore between the villages of Seahouses and Bamburgh, this windswept archipelago is home to a thriving grey seal colony and the thousands of bird species that flock to the Northumberland coast. We’ll also visit Warkworth Castle. Discover the castle’s links to the Percy family, Harry Hotspur, and William Shakespeare and stand atop its ramparts for great views over the River Coquet and the surrounding coast.

Breakfast, packed lunch, and dinner included. Overnight in Alnmouth.

Friday 9th August

After breakfast we depart Alnmouth at leisure.

Breakfast included.
