Thursday 3rd January

Today we arrive in the Seychelles, a tropical archipelago just south of the equator in the Indian Ocean. We’ll transfer past hills covered in tropical trees and steep granite cliffs to reach our hotel shrouded in lush greenery.

Overnight in Beau Vallon.

Friday 4th January

Waking up in paradise today to the sound of bird song you are free to explore at your leisure. Take the short stroll down to the local beach of Beau Vallon and relax on the pure white sand next to the crystal clear water

The Seychelle’s capital, Victoria is nearby and offers the chance to discover the fusion of cultures that has resulted in the unique Seychellois Creole people, who bring these islands alive with their vibrant cuisine and Seychellois sega singing and dancing. Lush botanical gardens, local market places and remnants of British colonialism are highlights of the town.

This evening we shall enjoy an included dinner together to sample some of the sumptuous local cuisine.

Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight in Beau Vallon.

Saturday 5th January

Today we will embark on a half day discovery of Mahe to explore its history, culture and local traditions. We’ll first visit the capital of the Seychelles, Victoria, passing by the Clock Tower and the colourful market place and then into its stunning botanical gardens. We’ll also drive through the lush forested mountain passes of Sans Souci on one of the Seychelle’s most scenic routes. Once at the top of the mountain we’ll visit the overgrown historic ruins of Mission Lodge which commands awe-inspiring views of the coast below. Our tour will conclude at a local craft village where we can purchase souvenirs and meet local artisans busy at work.

Breakfast included. Overnight in Beau Vallon.

Sunday 6th January

Today will be another chance to soak up the peaceful ambience offered by Mahe. Enjoy a lazy day soaking up the sun by the pool or make the short walk to the nearby pristine beach and the bars and restaurants on the waters edge. The glorious orange and pink sunset over the Indian ocean’s distant horizon is not to be missed.

Breakfast included. Overnight in Beau Vallon.

Monday 7th  January

Today begins by sailing to Praslin by ferry. We shall then go by private charter to the islet of St Pierre. This quintessential Seychelles island is speckled by coconut palms in the bay of Cote d’Or and is perfect for swimming and snorkelling in the clear waters.

We shall enjoy a sumptuous included lunch before journeying onwards to Curieuse Island, one of the Inner Islands which was a leper colony until 1965 and today is a bio-reserve home to over 500 giant tortoises, black parrots and mangrove forests. Other than Praslin, Curieuse is the only place in the world where Coco de Mer grows naturally. This iconic plant’s fame derives from three world records including the heaviest seed at 17.6 kilograms, the largest flower on any palm tree and the largest recorded fruit, a staggering 42 kilograms.

A Park Ranger will walk us through the mangroves of the park. You may also wish to visit the Doctors House, a restored Creole colonial villa which is now home to a museum on ecology and the island’s history. We shall then return to our island home on Mahe.

Breakfast and lunch included. Overnight in Beau Vallon.

Tuesday 8th January

Today is at leisure to explore the island of Mahe. Our free time can be spent relaxing on sheltered beaches or snorkelling in the clear sea teeming with fish and coral. We also strongly suggest sampling some of the local street food. Creole food is all about freshly caught fish, locally grown fruit and exotic spices

Breakfast included. Overnight in Beau Vallon.

Wednesday 9th  January

This morning we shall transfer to the quay before boarding a ferry to traverse the azul waters of the Indian Ocean to reach the island of Praslin. Our first port of call on the island is Vallee de Mai. The ‘May Valley’ is a UNESCO World Heritage, home to six endemic types of palm tree and has been likened to the Garden of Eden – A myth propagated by the British General Gordon who claimed that the palm trees here were the original tree of knowledge and that the breadfruit tree was the tree of life. As on Curieuse the rare coco de mer plant grows naturally here, endemic to the Seychelles its giant nuts have floated across oceans and are surrounded in folklore. We shall then transfer to sublime Anse Lazio Beach, claimed by many to be the best beach in the world for free time to relax or a quick dip in the sea.

We shall then continue our adventure by boarding a catamaran for an included lunch of fresh local food. We shall then commence sailing to our next stop, the small but stunning island of La Digue. Here we shall visit L’Union Estate, a former coconut and vanilla plantation for a guided tour, with the old plantation house conjuring stories of bygone times in the Seychelles. There will be the chance to learn how coconut oil is made, with a tour of the restored copra mill, there is also a boat yard and the chance to meet the resident tortoises. We shall then finish our tour at the Anse Source D’Argent beach. Fresh local drinks will be served as we enjoy the late afternoon at leisure on this secluded paradise island. We shall then make the ferry journey back to Mahe as the sun sets on our island-hopping adventure.

Breakfast and lunch included. Overnight in Beau Vallon.

Thursday 10th January

Today we shall make the most of one final morning in our tropical haven before we prepare for our departure in the late afternoon.

Breakfast included. Overnight in flight.

Friday 11th January

Arrive home.
