Wednesday 24th July

Transfer from Naples airport to Hotel Eliseo Parks in Sorrento. It’s then time to get some good rest ahead of our first full day in Sorrento tomorrow!

Overnight in Sorrento.

Thursday 25th July

On our first full day in Sorrento we’ll take a guided tour through the historic town where ancient Greek and ancient Roman architecture is prominent throughout – even in the present day cafes and bars. The streets are bustling and you’ll soon get an idea of the atmosphere of this place. The waft of freshly baked bread fills the streets, the medieval cobbled streets lead to marketplaces selling local produce, and the centre is home to baroque churches and piazzas busy with alfresco diners. This town also comes alive at night with atmospheric street lighting and residents and visitors all enjoying the balmy summer evenings.

As Sorrento is full of lemon groves, on this tour we’ll also enjoy a citrus tasting where you’ll get to sample the local limoncello – and it’s up to you whether you sip it in a classy style or down it in one!

Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight in Sorrento.

Friday 26th July

This day is free to spend at your leisure or if you love Italian food, why not try your hand at making favourites of the area in an optional cooking class? This lesson offers you a practical insight into the production of a complete seasonal menu, with a particular focus on local specialties, ranging from appetizers to desserts and everything in between. What better way to savour and learn about the iconic Neapolitan cuisine than by making it with fresh produce?

Breakfast and dinner. Overnight in Sorrento.

Saturday 27th July

Pompeii always invokes an intense fascination from visitors and its eerie splendour is unmissable during a trip to Sorrento.

Following the spectacular eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD, Pompeii lay buried and forgotten for centuries. Excavations began in the 18th century and have subsequently uncovered complex networks of ruins which include city gates, streets, gymnasia, thermal baths, civil and religious buildings, modest dwellings and stately homes, shops and fountains. Perhaps the most amusing of all the discoveries is Pompeii’s brothel and the most impressive is its giant amphitheatre. Here, all the historical discovery is intertwined with a spine-chilling tale of human tragedy which we’ll learn about on our guided tour.

Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight in Sorrento.

Sunday 28th July

You can’t be this close and not visit Capri. On this optional tour we begin what promises to be an unforgettable day by sailing across the Bay of Naples to the shores of this legendary island, which is about four miles long and two miles wide. Seldom has such a small place had so much said, written and sung about it over the centuries. And you’ll soon learn why on our guided tour of Capri. You will have the option to visit the fascinating villa of Axel Munthe, built on the remains of an ancient Roman settlement and offering splendid views of the island. Alternatively watch the world go by in one of Capri’s pretty, open-air cafes, discover the labyrinth of medieval cobbled alleyways, meander through the market stalls selling traditional island handicrafts, admire the sights and scents of the colourful gardens, or simply relax on the beach. We’ll sail back for our evening dinner back in Sorrento.

Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight in Sorrento.

Monday 29th July

Today is a day for you to spend completely at your leisure. Relax in the grounds of the hotel, wander into Sorrento for a leisurely day of drinking coffee and eating Italian food or alternatively you could visit Herculaneum. This place is lesser known than its big brother Pompeii but many argue that the preservation of the buildings is much more superior. Herculaneum was buried in the same series of eruptions that destroyed Pompeii and was originally discovered during the early 18th Century.

Another option is to venture into Naples, Italy’s third largest city where you can explore San Gennaro Cathedral, the gothic buildings, and eat true Neopolitan pizza on your way around the city.

Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight in Sorrento.

Tuesday 30th July

It’s our last full day in Sorrento, so enjoy it to the full. As a last day treat, you might want to sample some of the delectable Italian wines available in Sorrento. Italian wine is well known throughout the world so what better way to try a few varieties on the land where it’s grown?

Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight in Sorrento.
