Saturday 18th April
Today we fly to Amman, Jordan’s capital. Upon arrival we’ll transfer to our hotel where we’ll relax and recharge after our travels.
Overnight in Amman.
Sunday 19th April
Following a relaxed morning, we head north to explore the ancient Roman City of Jerash. We’ll explore this remarkable archaeological site with a guided exploration through the famous colonnaded streets, the grand plaza, the impressive amphitheatre, the temples and the Byzantine church complex. Much of this 2,000-year-old site remains exceptionally well preserved, making it effortless to envision the vibrant Roman daily life that once thrived in these historical spaces.
Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight in Amman.
Monday 20th April
Departing the capital today, we’ll journey south, with our first stop at the imposing Crusader stronghold of Kerak Castle. Representing one of the most outstanding examples of medieval Crusader architecture, the fortified walls are reinforced with rectangular defensive towers and lengthy stone vaulted corridors while encircled by a deep protective moat that completely secures the fortress. Our expert guide will lead us through this impressive castle before we travel along the scenic Kings Highway, traversing the breathtaking Mujib Canyon en route to Petra. After settling into our hotel, we’ll roll up our sleeves for a hands-on cooking class to discover the distinctive flavours of traditional Jordanian cuisine. This evening we’ll savour our own homemade culinary masterpiece for dinner!
Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight in Petra.
Tuesday 21st April
Today is dedicated to one of the world’s most iconic archaeological sites – Petra. Carved into the rose-red cliffs by the Nabateans, this UNESCO World Heritage Site was once a major trading hub. We begin our guided tour through the atmospheric Siq, a narrow rocky gorge that opens dramatically onto the Treasury, Petra’s most famous monument. We’ll delve into the rich history of the site including stories of the Hollywood film Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade which was famously shot here! The site spans vast areas and we’ll have opportunities to visit numerous principal attractions such as temples, tombs and streets of the once-thriving desert city.
Note: Exploring the extensive site involves considerable walking, though you can discover as much or as little as you prefer.
Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight in Petra.
Wednesday 22nd April
After a relaxed start to the morning, we’ll take a brief drive to Siq al-barid, commonly called Little Petra. Like main Petra, this is a fascinating Nabatean archaeological site, featuring structures carved into sandstone cliffs and likely served as a Petra suburb, accommodating visiting Silk Road merchants. This more intimate and peaceful site allows time for leisurely exploration before heading to our next destination – the legendary Wadi Rum. Known as the ‘Valley of the Moon’, this otherworldly lunar-like terrain, rich in history, features ancient valleys and majestic sandstone mountains emerging from white and rose-colored desert sands. We’ll discover Wadi Rum’s most spectacular natural wonders on a thrilling 4×4 jeep safari before enjoying dinner and sleeping under brilliant desert stars at our luxury desert camp.
N.b. Our Wadi Rum desert camp offers tents with ensuite facilities, electricity, and full beds with linen for your comfort.
Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight in Wadi Rum.
Thursday 23rd April
After waking in the serene beauty and tranquillity of the desert, we’ll enjoy a delicious fresh breakfast before having the chance to embrace our inner Lawrence of Arabia with an optional camel trekking experience. These remarkable desert-adapted animals provide a surprisingly smooth, albeit gently swaying, ride!
Leaving the Wadi Rum desert, we travel to the coast and our accommodation for the next two nights in Aqaba. We’ll embark on a Red Sea boat excursion with opportunities to swim directly from the vessel and snorkel in the warm Gulf of Aqaba waters. Alternatively, simply relax on deck in the Mediterranean sunshine and appreciate the natural beauty and soothing sounds of the gentle waves.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Overnight in Aqaba.
Friday 24th April
After several action-packed days, today remains completely free for you to relax and explore Aqaba at your own pace. You might opt to relax by the hotel pool, indulge in a spa treatment, or visit local beaches for sunbathing, snorkelling, or a glass-bottom boat ride. Perhaps a leisurely walk along the waterfront promenade appeals, absorbing the atmosphere of this charming Red Sea coastal town in the warm sunshine. Food enthusiasts can explore vibrant local markets and purchase fresh pistachios, almonds and dates to take home.
Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight in Aqaba.
Saturday 25th April
Our final full day takes us north to the famous Dead Sea. As Earth’s lowest point, this unique body of water supports no marine life but contains exceptionally high concentrations of salts and therapeutic minerals. These natural elements provide the water’s renowned restorative properties and supply raw materials for celebrated Dead Sea skincare products. Naturally, no Dead Sea visit is complete without experiencing floating in the Dead Sea itself, so there’s ample time for relaxation and enjoying this unusual sensation which initially feels quite strange (but to which you’ll quickly adapt!). You might also apply the mineral-rich grey sea mud, then sun-dry before washing it off to reveal silky-smooth skin! (a lovely spa treatment without the spa price tag!)
After our Dead Sea experience, we return to Amman for our final evening. We’ll celebrate with a farewell group dinner where we can reminisce about all the incredible highlights of our Jordan adventure.
Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight in Amman.
Sunday 26th April
Following breakfast, we say goodbye to this magnificent country and begin our homeward journey.
