Join Traveleyes as we embark on a multi-stop tour of Argentina and Brazil. Our journey begins in the bustling city of Buenos Aires, Argentina’s metropolis capital city. Experience this vibrant city, an eclectic mix of European and Latin influences and the home of Tango before travelling to Iguazu, home to some of the world’s most famous waterfalls! Visit both the Argentinian and Brazilian side of the falls, where the sounds of thundering, cascading water and the sensations of spray on your face, creates a truly sensory experience.

No trip to this area of the world could be considered complete without visiting the magnificent city of Rio De Janeiro, filled with towering mountains, incredible architecture, and raucous nights – there is nowhere quite like it in the world.

Swap the city for the beach at the end of your trip, as we head to Buzios, on the Southern peninsula. Home to some of the country’s most beautiful beaches, this is the perfect spot to rest up after two weeks of exploration.

DAY 1: TRAVEL TO ARGENTINA

Friday 17th January

Today we begin our journey to Buenos Aires in Argentina, our first stop on our South American journey.

DAY 2: LAND IN BUENOS AIRES AND SETTLE INTO OUR NEW SURROUNDINGS

Saturday 18th January

This morning we arrive into Buenos Aires, where we’ll be met by our local guide. From here, we’ll transfer to our accommodation. As we arrive in the morning, check-in may not be available until the afternoon. The rest of the day is at leisure, so spend some time relaxing today before our adventure begins tomorrow!

DAY 3: EXPLORE BUENOS AIRES

Sunday 19th January

After breakfast this morning, we’ll meet with our local guide once more and begin a tour of Buenos Aires. This city appears European in style but has mixes of Latin influences throughout. Today we’ll visit sites such as the cathedral, the Government House and the Colón Theatre, widely regarded as one of the world’s most impressive opera houses. We’ll also visit some of the surrounding neighbourhoods, such as La Boca and Recoleta, giving us a sample of the local culture.

This afternoon is at leisure. You may wish to explore this vibrant city some more, sampling some of the culinary delights on offer, or perhaps return to the hotel for a bit of down time.

For those of you who wish to, there is the chance to join an optional excursion that really immerses you into the culture! Watch a traditional Tango performance, dine on local cuisine, and you can even try a few of the steps if you fancy!

DAY 4: ENJOY A FREE DAY OR VISIT THE SANTA SUSANA RANCH

Monday 20th January

Today is a day at leisure, you may wish to head out and explore the vibrant city of Buenos Aires some more, sample the local foods and embrace the city’s unique vibe.

There will also be the option to visit the Santa Susana Ranch, located in Campana, about 80km from Buenos Aires. Here you can experience the traditional way of life of an Argentine gaucho and gain an insight into the skills and stories of cattle herding and horsemanship. You’ll also get to sample the local Argentinian cuisine paired with wine, and witness a tango and folklore show, demonstrating the typical music and dancing of this region!

DAY 5: TRANSFER TO THE IGUAZU FALLS AND VISIT THE ARGENTINIAN SIDE

Tuesday 21st January

This morning we depart from Buenos Aires and fly to Iguazu Falls. These falls on the Iguazu River lie on the border of Argentina and Brazil and are the largest waterfall system in the world. The word Iguazu originates from the indigenous Indian words for “big” and “water”, which is an accurate description for these mighty and powerful falls.

Today we will experience the Argentinian side of the falls, home to lush and dense subtropical forest, overflowing with flora and fauna. Here we shall wander the walkways and feel the tremor of the falls as we get closer to the thundering water. No visit to the falls would be complete without witnessing “The Devil’s Throat”, where half of the river’s flow suddenly descends rapidly into a narrow chasm and is truly a sight to behold. Witnessed from the Devil’s Bridge, the roaring of the waterfall and the sensation of the water splashing over your skin, makes for an unforgettable sensory experience.

DAY 6: VISIT THE BRAZILIAN SIDE OF IGUAZU FALLS

Wednesday 22nd January

On our second day in Iguazu we get to experience the falls from the Brazilian side, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site located on the Parana state in Brazil. Our tour begins at the visitor’s centre, where we will follow the boardwalk along to view the breathtaking falls. This afternoon, there will be the option to join a speedboat safari tour along the river, bringing the scene alive in a true multi-sensory fashion. The boat will travel upriver passing canyons with rapids, wildlife and beautiful scenery, before arriving at the base of the falls. Here you can really appreciate the majesty of these falls, as the water crashes around you, and the shower is refracted into a magical rainbow of colours.

DAY 7: FLY TO RIO DE JANEIRO

Thursday 23rd January

Bid farewell to Iguazu today as wel continue our adventure to Rio De Janeiro. This world-famous city is home to 8 million people and is filled with bright colours, vibrant culture, and infectious musicality. Rio is affectionately known as “cidade maravilhosa”, meaning the marvellous city, and it’s not hard to see why everyone who visits here falls in love with it!

Upon arrival, the rest of the day is free time, so whether you want to chill in the hotel or head out to start exploring this diverse and bustling city, is up to you!

DAY 8: SEE THE CITY FROM THE HEIGHTS OF SUGARLOAF MOUNTAIN

Friday 24th January

We begin our exploration of Rio today, as we visit Sugarloaf Mountain, a high peak situated adjacent to Rio at the mouth of Guanabara Bay. Using cable cars, we shall visit different points of the mountain, our first stop at Urca Hill, before embarking on a second cable car to take us to the top of Sugarloaf. Here we will be able to experience fantastic panoramic views across Rio and discover the history of the mountain, which was named during the 16th century by the Portuguese during the sugar cane trade. Following this, we shall have a chance to see some of the main sights of Rio, which our local guide will show us as we travel back to the hotel.

The rest of the afternoon is at leisure, giving you ample time to get out and explore one of the world’s most exciting cities!

DAY 9: VISIT CHRIST THE REDEEMER AND TICK OFF THIS BUCKET LIST SITE

Saturday 25th January

When you think of Rio De Janeiro, there is one famous symbol equated with this city – the Christ the Redeemer statue that stands proud above the city. Today we have the opportunity to visit the incredibly famous icon, arguably one of the most well known across the world. The statue stands 700 metres high above the city on a towering peak of the Corcovado Mountain and creates an unforgettable image, against the backdrop of the spectacular mountain landscape.

This afternoon you may wish to visit one of Rio’s exquisite beaches for some much-needed R&R after a bumper packed few days. Alternatively, continue to discover this wonderful city, visit a local market, wander the bustling streets or simply sit back in a café and watch as life in the city goes by.

DAY 10: VISIT A LOCAL SAMBA SCHOOL

Sunday 26th January

Today we embark on a truly unique experience, as we visit a samba school factory, where we get to look behind the scenes and observe a samba school in preparation for a big carnival event. We’ll visit their factory, and learn about the creativity behind these vibrant carnivals and the preparation that goes into their creation, with very little resources to hand. We shall then partake in a percussion and samba workshop, an amazing way to immerse ourselves into the Brazilian culture. Here we will learn how to create the samba sound and some basic samba steps!

This afternoon we shall head to the Botanical Gardens, considered to be one of the best in the world and is known as a live museum, containing over 8 thousand species of plants. Here we shall see Imperial Palm trees, the Brazilian Pau-Brasil and many other plants indigenous to this area. The gardens also are regularly visited by local wildlife, such as birds and forest animals, so keep a look out as it is likely you’ll spot one or two on your visit!

DAY 11: TRANSFER TO BLISSFUL BUZIOS

Monday 27th January

This morning is at leisure before we continue to our final destination of the trip, Buzios. Buzios is located around 2.5 hours from Rio, with the journey taking us through beautiful landscapes before arriving into Buzios. This area of Brazil sits on the peninsula and extends into the Atlantic Ocean, boasting 23 pristine beaches. With a gorgeous coastline and a bustling nightlife, it’s no wonder that is is Brazil’s second most popular destination after Rio! Your evening is at leisure, so head out and get to know this beautiful area of the world!

DAY 12: ENJOY YOUR BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS AND UNWIND ON THE BEACH

Tuesday 28th January

Today is free to spend time relaxing or exploring the area. There is the option to join a Schooner ride, which takes you out on the waters to experience the outstanding beauty of Buzios from the ocean! This tour allows you to visit some of the areas more secluded, hidden beaches and to unwind onboard, as you sail through the azure waters of the South Atlantic.

DAY 13: CHECK OUT AND TRANSFER TO RIO

Wednesday 29th January

Sadly, today we must transfer to Rio De Janeiro to board our return flight home.

DAY 14: ARRIVE INTO THE UK

Thursday 30th January

This morning we land back in the UK and must say farewell to the group, for now anyway!

Visa information (at time of publication):

Argentina – You don’t need a visa to enter Argentina as a tourist from the UK unless you’re travelling on an Emergency Travel Document. On presentation of a valid British passport, you will normally be granted a 90-day stay in the country.

Brazil – British nationals can normally enter Brazil without a visa as a tourist. For further information about visas see the website of the Brazilian Consulate in London.
