Begin in Buenos Aires, where elegant boulevards, colourful neighbourhoods and lively markets reveal the spirit of Argentina. Explore historic landmarks, wander through San Telmo Market and Caminito, then round off the day with a dazzling tango dinner show. Next, experience the breathtaking Iguazú Falls from both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides, where thunderous waterfalls plunge through lush tropical rainforest.

In Brazil, discover the iconic sights of Rio de Janeiro, from Christ the Redeemer to Sugarloaf Mountain, while soaking up the city’s samba rhythms and exploring the traditions behind its legendary Carnival celebrations. End your journey in the relaxed beach resort of Búzios, where golden sands and a slower pace provide the perfect finale to an extraordinary South American escape.

Sunday 14th March 2027

Arrive in Buenos Aires and transfer to our hotel in the lively Palermo district. The remainder of the day is free to settle in and begin exploring the surrounding neighbourhood at your own pace.

Monday 15th March 2027

Today we’ll discover Buenos Aires on a guided city tour, exploring the city’s rich history, colourful neighbourhoods and vibrant culture. We’ll visit Plaza de Mayo and the Metropolitan Cathedral before wandering through the lively San Telmo Market, where enticing aromas, local flavours and bustling stalls create a memorable atmosphere. Our final stop is Caminito, famous for its brightly painted buildings, street musicians and outdoor sculptures.

This evening, we’ll depart the hotel early for a tango lesson suitable for all levels, held at the same venue as our dinner show. We’ll learn some of the dance’s characteristic steps before enjoying a three-course dinner. Afterwards, we’ll experience live music and a tango performance, followed by an opportunity to meet the performers and explore the vibrant costumes and instruments through touch.

Tuesday 16th March 2027

Today is free to explore Buenos Aires at your own pace. You might visit one of the city’s museums, stroll through the parks and gardens of Palermo or explore the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve.

Alternatively, there is an optional full-day ranch experience available at Estancia El Ombú de Areco in the Argentine countryside. The day includes a traditional barbecue lunch, folk music, a horse demonstration and the opportunity to try horse riding or take a carriage ride.

Wednesday 17th March 2027

After breakfast, we’ll transfer to Buenos Aires’ Jorge Newbery Airport and fly to Puerto Iguazú. On arrival, we’ll transfer to our hotel to check in before crossing the border into Brazil.

Here, we’ll have our first experience of Iguazú Falls from the Brazilian side, following a 1.2-kilometre trail along the forested edge of the gorge, where curtains of water plunge into the river below and clouds of spray rise into the air. We’ll also visit Parque das Aves, where pathways wind through tropical forest and large aviaries filled with toucans, parrots, butterflies and other native species.

A Macuco Safari adventure is available as an optional extra which combines a journey through the rainforest, a short nature trail and an exhilarating boat ride on the Iguaçu River towards the falls.

Thursday 18th March 2027

Today we’ll spend a full day exploring the Argentine side of Iguazú Falls. Surrounded by subtropical forest, the park is home to a remarkable diversity of wildlife, from colourful birdlife to curious mammals that thrive among the lush vegetation.

A network of walkways wind through the lush forest leading to different perspectives of the falls where we can appreciate their immense scale and power. Listen to the thunder of the cascading water, feel the cool spray on your face and take in the surrounding rainforest. We’ll then board the ecological train to Devil’s Throat, the largest and most dramatic section of the falls, before returning to our hotel.

Friday 19th March 2027

After breakfast, we’ll leave Puerto Iguazú in Argentina and travel across the border into Brazil for our flight to Rio de Janeiro. On arrival, we’ll transfer to our hotel in Copacabana, close to the city’s famous beach, restaurants and shops.

The afternoon is free to enjoy at your own pace. You may wish to visit the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, where tropical plants and native flora can be appreciated through their scents and textures, while the surrounding birdsong adds to the tranquil setting. Other alternatives you may wish to explore are the Museum of Tomorrow (Museu do Amanhã) or the Rio Museum of Modern Art.

Saturday 20th March 2027

Today we’ll visit two of Rio de Janeiro’s most iconic landmarks. We’ll travel to Corcovado Mountain taking the Corcovado Rack Railway through the forest to Christ the Redeemer. At the top, the breeze, city sounds and sense of height help convey the sheer scale of the setting.

Later, we’ll ride the cable cars to Urca Hill and Sugarloaf Mountain, experiencing the sensation of being suspended high above the landscape as the cabins glide between the peaks. At the summit, we’ll take in the atmosphere and sweeping surroundings which offers a sense of Rio from a different perspective.

Sunday 21st March 2027

Today we’ll visit the private warehouse of Acadêmicos do Grande Rio, one of Rio’s leading samba schools, to learn about the traditions and preparations behind Carnival. We’ll discover the history of samba and how the elaborate costumes and parade displays are created.

Surrounded by music, textures and the energy of Carnival, we’ll have the opportunity to try on authentic costumes before taking part in a lively samba lesson. We’ll complete the experience with a traditional caipirinha.

The remainder of the day is free to explore at your own pace. We recommend you visit the Sunday Hippie Fair in Ipanema’s Praça General Osório, to browse stalls selling local art, crafts and clothing, and treat yourself to some souvenirs of Brazil.

Monday 22nd March 2027

After breakfast, we’ll leave Rio de Janeiro and travel along the coast to Búzios, a beautiful seaside retreat and the perfect place to unwind after the excitement of the journey so far. Once a small fishing village, Búzios is known for its crystal-clear waters, golden beaches and relaxed coastal atmosphere.

After checking into our hotel, the remainder of the day is free to settle in, enjoy the fresh sea air and ease into the relaxed rhythm of this coastal paradise.

Tuesday 23rd March 2027

Today is free to enjoy Búzios at your own pace. You might spend time beside the calm waters of João Fernandes or Ferradura Beach, stroll along the Orla Bardot waterfront or explore the shops, cafés and restaurants of Rua das Pedras.

Alternatively, a boat trip around the Búzios Peninsula can be arranged as an optional extra, offering the chance to discover more of the coastline, sheltered bays and beaches from the water.

Wednesday 24th March 2027

Today our unforgettable South American adventure draws to a close. After breakfast, we’ll say goodbye to Búzios and travel back to Rio de Janeiro for our return flight home.

Visa Information: Travellers holding a full British citizen passport can visit both Argentina and Brazil without a visa for tourism for up to 90 days. No advance online visa application is currently required for this trip.

If you are a dual British-Brazilian national, Brazilian immigration authorities may require you to enter and leave Brazil using a Brazilian passport.

If you hold a passport from outside the UK, check with the relevant embassy or consulate for the most up-to-date visa requirements before travelling.

Passport Validity: To enter Argentina, your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay. To enter Brazil, your passport must have an expiry date at least 6 months after the date you arrive in Brazil. The FCDO does not currently specify a minimum number of blank passport pages for either country.
